HOD's DESK

  • Civil Engineering has its own place in a country’s development. To uplift the life standard of its countryman, a country must provide good infrastructure to its people, and civil engineers plays a vital role in this.
  • In our Civil EngineeringDepartment, we are imparting the basic knowledge on Building Planning, Surveying, Structure design, building construction and maintenance. Apart from this, department is committed for all-round development of our students.
  • Infrastructure in India is going to be developed at large scale and high pace in the next coming years.
  • So, we are contributing to meet these requirements in the form of giving quality Civil Engineers to the society. Civil Engineering Department is looking further to provide good placement to the students in coming years.

Labs

Surveying is the art of determining the relative positions of different objects on the surface of the earth by measuring the horizontal distances between them and vertical angle either in elevation or depression. From the observations obtained is corrected and plotted on paper to prepare the map in the suitable scale. Thus, in discipline, the measurements are taken in the horizontal plane as well as vertical plane.

The objective of surveying laboratory is to make student familiar and competent enough to draw map in suitable scale by using different surveying instruments like total station, theodolite, auto level, global positioning system (GPS), geographical information system (GIS), electromagnetic distance measurement (EDM), plane table, compass, etc. Students learn to survey from conventional as well as contemporary methods and technology. Our Surveying labs provide students with hands-on experience using common surveying equipment.

The Hydraulics Laboratory is a state-of-the art facility used to conduct a variety of experiments pertaining to water. Among other things, this laboratory provides a means of testing the hydraulic properties of submerged bridges and the hydraulic properties of highway drainage structures and stream crossings.
The ComputerLaboratory is located at the Department of Civil Engineering, ground Floor (CCG-3). The laboratory facilities are utilized by diploma engineering students for their curriculum laboratory work. Students also utilize it for the research and development activities. This lab helps to understand the digital drawing and BIM (Building Information Modeling). As CAD (Computer Aided Design) is the primary step for digitalized design & drawing therefore, this lab gives a digitalized experienced to students. In this lab students, apply basics command to develop 2D and 3D drawings of different kind of buildings, use advanced CAD command for edit/modification of existing drawing, prepare existing paper drawing in to CAD format, use of Revit in BIM. The laboratory has good potential to carry out research and projectwork. List of equipment available in the laboratory is given below:
