Renewable engineering department was established in Shri K.J. Polytechnic, Bharuch in 2022.The All India Council for Technical Education has approved an intake of 60 students for the academic year 2022-2023, making this branch the most recent addition to the Shri K.J. Polytechnic campus (AICTE). The branch was established by the Gujarat government as part of the circular dated April 20, 2022, which stated the restructuring of the existing institute programs and promoting the upcoming courses. Institute is governed by Department of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat. The program is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.The charge of the department is currently handled by the faculties of the mechanical engineering department
Using the principles of energy obtained from unconventional energy sources, renewable energy engineering meets the rising demand for power generation. Among them are energy sources including solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal heat. The department of Renewable Energy Engineering's mandate is to conduct teaching, research, and extension on renewable energy sources, as well as to develop tools and equipment for the stakeholders in order to address the current energy crisis by replacing or enhancing the fossil fuels currently in use with renewable energy sources. After completing the programme, the students should be capable of designing and developing automated systems, solar, wind, and hydro machines, as well as solutions to environmental issues, in addition to the production, distribution, and consumption of energy.
